📜 Regulation – Municipality of Rome (Category 3)
According to the "Regulation on the Tourist Contribution of Roma Capitale", particularly Article 3 (Taxpayer), visitors staying in accommodation facilities in Rome who are not residents of the municipality are required to pay the Tourist Tax.
💰 Tourist Tax Amount
✔ Rate: €6.00 per person, per night
✔ Applicable for: Up to 10 consecutive nights
✔ Payment: Must be made at check-in, in cash or by card
✔ Receipt: An official receipt for the amount paid will be issued
👥 Who Needs to Pay the Tax?
All non-resident guests staying in:
🏨 Accommodation facilities such as hotels, guesthouses, B&Bs, vacation rentals
🏠 Tourist-use lodgings
❌ Exemptions – Who Is Not Required to Pay the Tax?
The following categories are exempt from paying the Tourist Tax:
1️⃣ Children up to 10 years old (inclusive)
2️⃣ Patients undergoing medical treatment and companions of hospitalized patients in Roman hospitals (1 companion per patient, with hospital certification)
3️⃣ Bus drivers and tour guides of organized groups (1 for every 25 participants, with an official travel agency declaration)
4️⃣ Law enforcement and military personnel on duty for public security (with an official document from the relevant authority)
5️⃣ Accommodation staff staying for work purposes
6️⃣ Individuals housed for social or health emergencies by order of Civil Protection or Public Authorities
7️⃣ Volunteers engaged in humanitarian relief operations (with an official declaration from their organization)
8️⃣ People with severe disabilities, certified under Law 104/1992, Article 3, Paragraph 3, and their family caregiver (with valid documentation, including equivalent foreign certifications)
📌 How to Request an Exemption?
To obtain an exemption from the Tourist Tax, guests must present an official declaration along with supporting documentation proving their eligibility at check-in.
✔ Documentation must comply with D.P.R. December 28, 2000, No. 445 and subsequent amendments.
✔ If the required documents are not provided, the Tourist Tax will be applied.
